Table Tennis Obsession, part 1

without comments

Clothing Brand Experiment is excited to bring you a sneaky first look at a project that has us very excited.

First off, take a look at these awesome photos of 1970’s table tennis players. They are pinnacles of human might. The one on the left is a Swedish player named Jan-Ove Waldner. He is known as “Mozart of Table Tennis.” I suppose this is because he prances around in a powdered wig tittering loudly whenever he isn’t in a match. I would love to see the Salieri of Table Tennis.

So, those pictures are among the examples that we turned to for inspiration on our next project. We are designing a piece of athletic gear, specifically for the game of table tennis. The silhouette of the vintage table tennis jerseys above is certainly a jumping off point, but we found a way to bring in the tastefully flashy color schemes and typography of vintage 1960’s and 70’s cycling jerseys as well. Of course, we’re also putting in a taste of CBE innovation and a subtle twist on the style.

When the CBE Table Tennis Jersey is unveiled, we will also be extremely excited to announce our first athletic sponsorship! Stay tuned, get on your sweatbands, and keep your eye on the ball!

Check this guy out, totally wishing he had less bulky, constricting fabric around his shoulders.
